St. Antony’s Shrine, Kaloor, stands as a prominent place of prayer and popular devotion in the Archdiocese of Verapoly. The church, dedicated to St. Antony of Padua, was established in the early decades of the twentieth century to meet the pastoral needs of the growing Catholic community in Kaloor and its surrounding areas.
With the steady growth of devotion to St. Antony—particularly through the Tuesday devotions and novenas—the church gradually emerged as an important centre of pilgrimage. Faithful from various parts of the State began to frequent the church, seeking the intercession of St. Antony for their spiritual and temporal needs. In recognition of its pastoral and devotional significance, the church was subsequently elevated to the status of a shrine.
