Cruz Milagres church

Cruz Milagres Church also known as Kurisingal Church, established in 1573 by Portuguese missionaries,  stands as one of the most venerable and historic parishes within the Archdiocese of Verapoly. Nestled on the serene lakeside of Ochanthuruth, Vypin, this ancient cruciform structure is steeped in miraculous tradition; local lore recounts a wooden cross cast from a floundering ship in the 16th century that stilled a violent storm before washing ashore, where it famously “bled” when struck. A pivotal spiritual landmark, the church was served as the baptismal site for illustrious figures including Archbishop Joseph Attipetty and Mother Eliswa Vakayil, the first indigenous religious sister from Kerala. Today, it remains a vibrant center of faith and community, drawing countless pilgrims to venerate its miraculous cross, holy relic of the True Cross, and the sacred Ecce-Homo statue.
