St. Jude Shrine, Yoodhapuram is a renowned pilgrimage centre of the Archdiocese of Verapoly, dedicated to St. Jude the Apostle, the beloved kinsman of Jesus Christ and patron of hopeless causes. Situated at Kidangoor, 1.5 km from Angamaly town in Ernakulam District, the shrine derives its name from “Yoodha” (Jude) and “puram” (land), meaning “the land of St. Jude.” The shrine was solemnly blessed on 13 January 2000. Since its inauguration, the Thursday Holy Mass and Novena have drawn large numbers of the faithful, many of whom testify to remarkable healings and answered prayers through St. Jude’s intercession. A rare privilege of the shrine is the presence of the primary relic of St. Jude, as well as the specially privileged Pontifical Altar declared in 2019 during the pontificate of Pope Francis. The shrine is also known for its charitable initiatives, such as “St. Jude Homes” for the homeless, and for the addition of a prayer hall and the Grotto of Miracles. Today, Yoodhapuram stands as a vibrant abode of prayer and grace, where countless pilgrims entrust their struggles and hopes to the powerful intercession of St. Jude and are drawn closer to Christ.
